IDA VALE WHITE SUFFOLK SHEEP

WS ram, white suffolk sheep, ida vale white suffolk sheep, western australia, bronte gardner

The White Suffolk breed began its inception into Western Australia at Ida Vale in 1984. Bronte Gardner was intrigued with the idea of crossing Poll Dorset with Suffolk on a trip to the Adelaide Royal in 1983. After visiting Don Ferguson (Anna Villa stud)  he was convinced this breed would have great deal to offer the sheep industry. For five years Bronte flew the flag for the White Suffolk breed single-handedly in Western Australia, defending the breed whenever there was controversy, which was especially common among other terminal breeders in WA. Ironically many are now White Suffolk breeders. With Bronte’s untimely passing in 2006, the Ida Vale stud has continued to prevail under the management of Tamesha Gardner and Andrew Greenup.

Andrew and Tamesha are continuing to take the stud forward and in 2009 used genetics from some of Australia's leading studs including Bundara downs (075269) Pendarra (075492) Woolumbool (050463"Dr Phil") and Depta Grove (060520). Previously used genetics include Accelerator(050627) Anden (050042) Depta Grove (050237) Warratah (050657) as well as our own sire Ida Vale (074138).
